Sebastian Junger spent 18 months in the Korangal Valley. In his book, "War," he documents the soldiers of the platoon he was embedded with. The soldiers, not the the culture, politics, or opinion of our involvement, is what the book is about. It is a bare and raw look at the most violent place on Earth. The valley sees one third of all action in Afghanistan and is handled by around 100 U.S. soldiers.
