Junger.

Sebastian Junger spent 18 months in the Korangal Valley. In his book, "War," he documents the soldiers of the platoon he was embedded with. The soldiers, not the the culture, politics, or opinion of our involvement, is what the book is about. It is a bare and raw look at the most violent place on Earth. The valley sees one third of all action in Afghanistan and is handled by around 100 U.S. soldiers.

This is real risk taking in journalism. This is living with the story you are telling. Sebastian Junger was on our show RadioWest. Here is the audio from that show. Junger. The book and the film, may be the most important work about the war in Afghanistan to date.
